Speaker Spotlight

Every Exchange Club meeting is an opportunity to learn something new, connect with neighbors, and better understand the issues and opportunities shaping our community. Our Speaker Spotlight highlights the people who join us to share insight, experience, and inspiration—from local leaders and nonprofit champions to educators, first responders, veterans, and business experts.

Speakers help us stay informed, broaden perspectives, and strengthen our service by connecting what’s happening in the Charleston region to the needs of Johns Island and Wadmalaw Island. Whether the topic is community wellness, education, public safety, local history, leadership, or service, these programs remind us why we gather: to learn, to serve, and to build stronger communities together.

Want to Speak to the Club?

We welcome speaker suggestions that align with our mission and are meaningful to our members and the broader community. If you have a recommended speaker or topic—especially one connected to Johns Island, Wadmalaw, Kiawah, Seabrook, or the Charleston region—we’d love to hear from you.

At Lowcountry Veterans Home, our mission is to provide safe, stable, and supportive transitional housing for homeless United States military veterans in the Charleston area. Through our partnership with the Department of Veterans Affairs, we are able to serve approximately 60 veterans each year, offering a drug- and alcohol-free environment that fosters healing, stability, and growth.

In addition to lodging, we provide daily meals, transportation, and wrap-around support services, while also connecting veterans to educational opportunities, employment resources, and community volunteers. By the end of their stay, our goal is to help each veteran secure permanent housing and lasting stability. Every contribution makes a difference. 100% of every tax-deductible donation directly supports our mission, helping us continue to serve those who have served our country.
