Scholarships

The Exchange Club of Kiawah-Seabrook supports students in our community through college scholarships for deserving young people. Each year, we partner with the Church of Our Saviour to award scholarships to high school seniors who live on Johns Island or Wadmalaw Island. Students must demonstrate financial need through the FAFSA, and the application includes academic and character components such as transcripts, recommendations, and short written responses.

Schools that benefit from our scholarship program include St. Johns High School and Charleston Collegiate, and eligible students may apply in coordination with their school counselor.

Who Should Apply

This scholarship is intended for students who:

  • Are high school seniors living on Johns Island or Wadmalaw Island
  • Plan to continue their education at a college or university after graduation
  • Can demonstrate financial need using the FAFSA
  • Have a record of involvement and effort across academics, school activities, work, faith-based involvement, and/or community service

What You’ll Submit

A complete application package includes:

  • The completed scholarship application
  • A high school transcript
  • Recommendations (the application encourages two, including one from school)
  • FAFSA documentation
  • Short written responses: choose three of the provided questions and respond in 4–5 sentences in your own words and your own handwriting (attached to the application)
  • Any special circumstances you want the committee to consider (if applicable)

The application also asks for information about your intended field of study, career goals, and your activities across high school (clubs, sports, employment, religious activities, and community/volunteer involvement).

How to Apply

  1. Download the current Scholarship Application (PDF) from this page.
  2. Complete the application and prepare your supporting materials (transcript, recommendations, FAFSA, and written responses).
  3. Work with your high school counselor to submit a complete application package.

Deadline (Current Cycle)

Your complete application package must be received by your school counselor by March 23, 2026. Counselors then forward completed applications to the appropriate recipients as instructed for that year.

What the Committee Looks For

While financial need is required (FAFSA), the application is designed to help the committee understand the whole student—academics, goals, responsibility, community involvement, and character. The questions you choose to answer are a great opportunity to show who you are and how you plan to make the most of your education.
