The Angel Oak Award Banquet, held on May 20, 2026, at Wingate Place, was an outstanding success. This year’s honoree, Leroy Blake, was formally recognized for his dedicated service to the Sea Islands Blessing Basket. A lifelong Johns Island resident, Mr. Blake reflected on his 22 years in the U.S. Air Force, shared updates on the many organizations he continues to support and expressed heartfelt gratitude to his family and fellow volunteers. His moving acceptance speech ended with him singing "Another Day Old" by Eddie Dalton—a first in the history of the Banquet—and drew very enthusiastic applause. He directed the $5,000 Angel Oak Award grant to the Sea Islands Blessing Basket.

Emcees Chris Stephenson, Exchange Club President - and Thad Peterson, Foundation Chair, highlighted Blake’s accomplishments and recognized past Angel Oak Award honorees in attendance. The names of all recipients are engraved on the permanent Angel Oak Award Trophy displayed in the lobby of Seabrook Island’s Lake House.

The Exchange Club Foundation raised more than $70,000 through sponsorships, donations, and ticket sales. Special thanks go to Sarah Rickman for once again donating the use of beautiful Wingate Place.

The Foundation also extends its appreciation to the Banquet Committee:

On Monday, November 10, 2025, Lowcountry golfers gathered at Seabrook Island Club for the 14th Annual Seabrook Island Veterans Day Charitable Golf Outing. The event brought the community together to honor veterans and raise funds in support of the Charleston Fisher House and the Ralph H. Johnson Veterans Hospital in Charleston.

Sponsored by Seabrook Island Club and the Kiawah-Seabrook Exchange Club, the tournament reflected the spirit of service, gratitude, and community support that defines this special day. Major donors included Seabrook Island Real Estate Company, Hobson Builders, Bohicket Marina, the McDaniel Family Foundation, and the Greubel Family Foundation.

    Event Highlights

During the opening ceremonies, the flag was presented by the St. Johns High School Jr. ROTC Color Guard, and WWII veteran Ed Gillen was recognized for his service. These moments set a meaningful tone for the day and reminded everyone of the purpose behind the event.

Seabrook Island Club hosted 220 golfers, including 19 Lowcountry Wounded Warriors, all coming together to show support for veterans of every era.
