Our Impact

The Exchange Club of Kiawah-Seabrook is committed to strengthening our community through hands-on service, thoughtful giving, and long-term local investment. Through the Exchange Club Foundation, the Angel Oak Award, grants, and scholarships, we support the people, programs, and organizations making a meaningful difference across Johns Island, Wadmalaw Island, Kiawah, and Seabrook. Our impact is rooted in a volunteer-driven process that helps ensure the funds we raise locally are reinvested locally in ways that build a stronger, more connected community.

Exchange Club Foundation

The Exchange Club Foundation extends the club’s local impact by channeling donations directly into trusted charitable work that serves Johns Island and Wadmalaw Island. Established in 2016, the Foundation uses the club’s thorough volunteer-led evaluation process to identify the organizations and programs doing the most good, with support focused on child abuse prevention, youth development and education, community outreach, and Americanism. Because the Foundation operates with no overhead, donors can give with confidence knowing their support goes where it can make a real difference.

Angel Oak Award

The Angel Oak Award honors extraordinary local volunteer service that has created lasting impact across Johns Island, Wadmalaw Island, Kiawah, and Seabrook. Inspired by the strength and enduring presence of the Angel Oak itself, this award recognizes individuals whose leadership, compassion, and long-term commitment have helped strengthen the community in meaningful ways. Each recipient is celebrated publicly and given the opportunity to direct a $5,000 charitable gift to a local nonprofit of their choice.

Grants

Through its annual grants program, the Exchange Club of Kiawah-Seabrook invests in local nonprofits and programs that strengthen families, expand opportunities for young people, and improve quality of life for area residents. Grant requests are aligned to the club’s four Programs of Service, and the process is guided by volunteer committees who meet with organizations, evaluate proposals, and stay engaged with many recipients throughout the year. This hands-on approach helps ensure funding is awarded thoughtfully, responsibly, and where it can have the greatest community impact.

Scholarships

The club’s scholarship program helps deserving students from Johns Island and Wadmalaw Island take the next step in their education. In partnership with the Church of Our Saviour, scholarships are awarded to local high school seniors who demonstrate financial need through the FAFSA, while also showing strong character, academic effort, and involvement in school, work, and community life. This program reflects the club’s commitment to investing not only in today’s community needs, but also in the future of the next generation.
