Membership in the Exchange Club can be a very rewarding experience. We often get questions about what that membership entails. Below is a summary of what Exchange Club Member offers:
- ORGANIZATION
- K-S chapter founded 1982, about 105 members
- Part of National club founded 1911, 700 local clubs, 25,000 members
- PROGRAMS OF SERVICE
- Community Service (hunger relief, health)
- Child Abuse Prevention
- Youth and Education
- Americanism (flag displays)
- FUND RAISING
- Net advertising revenues from Handbook
- Exchange Club Foundation – tax exempt donations
- Share of profits from Bohicket Marina 5K/10K race
- For 2018/19 provided $150K in grants to charities serving Johns and Wadmalaw Islands
- DINNER MEETINGS
- Normally 1st and 3rd Wednesdays each month
- Held at Seabrook Island Club or Turtle Point Club (Kiawah)
- Four meetings skipped each year — 1st Wednesdays of January and July and two others
- SOCIAL EVENTS
- Angel Oak Award Dinner
- CSO concerts with dinner and group bus
- Golf outing
- Christmas social
- DUES AND FEES
- $200 per quarter – includes meals at regular meetings plus National and District fees
- Drink charges at meetings are approximately ½ price
- Guest dinners are $40, except for first meeting of prospective member
- VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
- Handbook ad sales, related layout and distribution tasks
- Committee work with the four Programs of Service
- Club publicity
- Support club administrative committees (Treasurer, Secretary, Membership, Speaker Bureau, Website, etc.)
- Place and retrieve flags at holidays
